Effective management of natural resources is essential for sustainable development. Unsustainable management of land and sea resources threatens the economic, cultural and biological value of resources, impacting on the poor who depend on them for their livelihood.

Australian aid focuses on the sustainable management of natural resources and improving livelihoods for the poor. Activities emphasise capacity building and multi-stakeholder approaches.
