Infrastructure and Loans

 

Through two large initiatives - the Eastern Indonesia National Road Improvement Project and the Basic Education Program - Australia will support regional economic and social development, with a focus on Eastern Indonesia.

These projects will be funded through concessional loans to the Indonesian Government. From a total of A$500 million in loans available to the Indonesian Government from Australia, up to A$300 million will be made available for national road improvement, while up to A$200 million will be allocated for basic education. An additional A$155 million in grants will be allocated to the Basic Education Program, and an additional A$28 million in grant funds will be allocated to improving national roads.
