In 2007-08, under Australia's new White Paper budget initiatives a new health systems strengthening program and an HIV/AIDS partnership will be launched. Health system strengthening programs will include a strong focus on improving maternal and neonatal health services in Eastern Indonesia. This program works to strengthen the function of national and regional health systems by supporting health sector reform and management. Support under this program targets effective service delivery, including increased access for the poor and provision of community based health services. Australia's health program supports delivery of cost-effective disease prevention and treatment with a particular focus on assisting those in most need, particularly women and children.
