Indonesia-Australia Partnership in Basic Education (IAPBE)
BackgroundThe Indonesia-Australia Partnership in Basic Education contributes to increasing the accessibility and quality of basic social services. Emphasis is placed on interventions that improve district and school administration, including supporting community-based school management and improving the quality of teaching. The Partnership works in primary and junior secondary schools in both the secular and Islamic education systems. DescriptionThe goal of the Partnership is to help improve the quality and management of basic education in Indonesia by building the capacity of selected local governments, schools and community groups to plan, manage and deliver quality basic education services. IAPBE focuses on four interrelated components: governance, government administration, school development, and project management. The Partnership will run for three years in three districts in East Java: Gresik, Jombang and Jember, and work in parallel with other basic education donors in East Java to avoid duplication of effort and provide opportunities for collaboration.
