Background
Australia is providing A$2 million over three years to improve governance
and strengthen accountability in Muslim and civil society groups, and
contribute to democratic policy-making in Indonesia. The program is delivered
through the Asia Foundation.
Description
The program will support the following activities:
- Public debates on democracy themes at key state campuses.
- Provision of written materials and training of democracy, human rights,
gender and pluralism.
- Radio programs on pluralism and tolerance in key areas.
- Civic education.
- Training for female religious leaders to integrate themes of human
rights into their weekly study groups.
