Project Background

This project was designed to assist the Centre for Government Bond Management (PMON) within the Ministry of Finance. The project has three one-year phases that will assist PMON to develop the capacity to issue government securities, to manage the risks around public debt, and to undertake total government debt monitoring and analysis.

Description of Goals/Objectives

The goal of the Debt Management Program is to contribute to the Government of Indonesia's responsible financial management and the financial stability of the economy. The project objectives are:

  • To build organizational strength of PMON.
  • To support PMON domestic debt issuance.
  • To support the development and implementation of a risk management.
  • To support total government debt monitoring by PMON.
  • To support the building of future debt management capacity.
  • To ensure effective and efficient management of the project.

The project commenced in November 2001. Phase 3 commenced in December 2003 and this will be the final phase of the project. Future technical support of debt management will be provided through the TAMF.
